Who Is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ is the most important person who has ever lived. More books have been written about Him, more songs have been sung about Him, and more lives have been changed by Him than any other person in history. But who exactly is Jesus Christ according to the King James Bible? This page gives you the complete Biblical answer.

Jesus Christ Is God In The Flesh

The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is not merely a good man, a prophet, or a religious teacher. He is God Himself who took on human flesh and came to earth.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." ~ John 1:1,14 KJV

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." ~ 1 Timothy 3:16 KJV

"For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." ~ Colossians 2:9 KJV

Jesus Christ Was Born Of A Virgin

Jesus Christ was not born the same way as any other person. He was supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of a virgin named Mary. He had no earthly biological father. This miraculous birth was foretold by the prophet Isaiah over 700 years before it happened:

"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." ~ Isaiah 7:14 KJV

"And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." ~ Luke 1:35 KJV

The virgin birth is essential to the Gospel because it means Jesus had no sin nature inherited from Adam. He was born perfectly sinless — fully human yet fully divine.

Jesus Christ Lived A Perfect Sinless Life

Unlike every other person who has ever lived, Jesus Christ never sinned — not once. Not in thought, word, or deed. He kept God's law perfectly in every way.

"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." ~ Hebrews 4:15 KJV

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." ~ 2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV

This is why Jesus was the only one qualified to die for the sins of the world. He was the spotless Lamb of God — the only acceptable sacrifice to a holy and perfect God.

Jesus Christ Died On The Cross For Your Sins

The greatest act of love in all of history took place on a cross outside Jerusalem approximately 2,000 years ago. Jesus Christ — the sinless Son of God — was crucified, bearing the full weight of the sins of all mankind upon Himself.

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." ~ Romans 5:8 KJV

"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." ~ Isaiah 53:5-6 KJV

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." ~ John 3:16 KJV

Jesus did not die as a martyr or as a victim. He willingly laid down His life as the substitute for sinners. He took the punishment that every person deserves so that every person can receive the eternal life that only He deserves.

Jesus Christ Rose From The Dead

Three days after His crucifixion and burial, Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead. The resurrection is not a symbol or a metaphor — it is a historical fact. The tomb was empty. Jesus appeared alive to His disciples and to over 500 witnesses.

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." ~ Matthew 28:6 KJV

"And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once..." ~ 1 Corinthians 15:4-6 KJV

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. It proved that He is exactly who He claimed to be — the Son of God. It proved that His sacrifice on the cross was accepted by God the Father. And it proved that death itself has been conquered.

Jesus Christ Is The Only Way To Heaven

Jesus Christ did not claim to be one of many ways to God. He claimed to be the only way — the exclusive path to the Father and to eternal life.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." ~ John 14:6 KJV

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." ~ Acts 4:12 KJV

This is not an arrogant claim — it is a gracious one. God did not leave mankind without a Saviour. He provided the only Saviour that could ever exist — His own Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ Is Coming Again

The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ will return to earth a second time. His first coming was as the suffering Saviour — dying for the sins of the world. His second coming will be as the King of kings and Lord of lords.

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:" ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:16 KJV

"And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." ~ Revelation 19:16 KJV

What Must You Do With Jesus Christ?

The Bible says that every person will one day stand before Jesus Christ. The most important decision you will ever make in your life is what you do with Him right now.

"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." ~ Philippians 2:10-11 KJV

The good news is that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again so that you can have eternal life. Salvation is a free gift — received not by works or religion, but by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
